Malachi’s Creations

IMG_1618

My 10 year old loves to stamp.  He really likes to design cards for me but he doesn’t like to stamp anything that I’ve designed.

He sure isn’t like me since I love to copy the creative work of others—grin!  As I was taking the last pics to put on here, he brought his card over for me to take a picture of and I just had to get the artist in the picture—isn’t he adorable?

IMG_1618

He frequently pulls out this set, Season of Blessings to design with.  I guess cause gardening is his pride and joy right now.  Grandpa Fodor brought a shovel and they both dug up the garden with a shovel on Memorial Day!

Here’s Malachi and my 70 year old Dad, digging up the yard.

Here are some of the plants in his garden that he grew from seeds in his little greenhouse, in the house, and what the bunnies haven’t already enjoyed in the garden:

IMG_1579

He has cantaloupes, cucumbers, tomatoes,  a pepper, honeydew and thistles—well, he didn’t plant those—they’re just natural in our yard—ugh!

And some special flower seeds from his Grandma Fodor but they’re not doing too well.  Grandpa Clapper gave him starts of Strawberry plants so he’s trying to get them rooted in this hot weather so he can pick strawberries next year.

IMG_1582

He staked up his tomato plants with his sister’s help.

I guess he’s most proud of his Honeydew because I told him that I didn’t know if we could grow those around here.  He took seeds from a Honeydew melon that we bought to eat and he planted them.  Here’s the proof—just today he saw that it had blossoms so he’s a happy camper:

Since I’m showing off Malachi, here’s his 10th birthday pic at the mountains this month.  Thank you so much for looking—I know they’re not stamping creations but they are some of the little things that make life worth living.

And, no, I was not this interested in gardening at his age but then maybe that’s cause I had to do it!

Samples from my Downline Coffee Event

IMG_1595

I finally got my new stamps last Friday and got to sit down and play with them for my meeting on Saturday.  Sorry I didn’t get them on here sooner but home school deadlines were upon me and it always causes me great stress—today—testing is done and I have everything pretty much ready to turn into the school district!  Hallelujah.

Okay, this stamp set is called Friends Never Fade.  I used the new in-color cardstock Peach Parfait, Marina Mist for the stamp, Sahara Sand for the textured piece.  I created the tab with a 3/4 inch strip of Whisper White, inserted it into my 3/4” circle punch (not the traditional way but through the circle hole and out through the opening that you would normally stick it through) then punched created this rounded edge.  I did that on both ends then attached my linen thread.  Cool huh?   For the flowers on the right, I punched with the Boho Blossoms punch, then pressed the flower into my mat pack foam pad with the stylus tool to create the dimension.  I applied them to the card with a mini glue dot, then I applied a drop of crystal effects, dipped my pokey tool into a drop of Pear Pizazz ink and touched it to the drop of crystal effects—the color just spreads over the whole drop.  Then I sprinkled with dazzling diamonds glitter.

IMG_1617

This card uses the same stamp set but also the Presto Patterns DSP from the Mini Catalog.

I CASE’d it from Mary Fish.  I embossed the stamp in Silver EP after swiping with the embossing buddy.  Then I sponged the whole thing with Certainly Celery and a touch of Always Artichoke.

The textured piece is done with Always Artichoke, the Textured Impressions Folder—Square Lattice—from the Mini Catalog. The edge with Scallop Trim Border punch, silver brads.  The Oval punch was used to punch out the flower from the same set.

IMG_1611

We made these cute little note cards using the same set, Friends Never Fade, as well as the DSP Greenhouse Gala.  Cards are 3 1/4 X 3 1/4.  The envelopes are made from one Small Open-End Envelope, cut in half---you seal the flap, then apply a piece of DSP for the flap (cut 3 1/2 X 2 1/2, scored at 1 inch to glue on back).  I also used a strip of Daffodil Delight CS---love this new yellow!

IMG_1612  For this one, I just used scraps from the previous note cards!  I think it turned out pretty cute!

IMG_1609

Because I Care is a new level 1 hostess set.  I got it for free when I placed my sneak peak pre-order for my new colors of pads and paper.

I did not want to have to cut this design out so I stamped it, colored it with Bashful Blue and Marina Mist markers (wish I had just used marina mist cause the colors don’t quite match), then I took the Sahara Sand marker and created a shadow around the right and bottom of the flower…..

IMG_1601

…which helps this flower to pop off the page.

The center sponging was done by creating a frame mask with my personal cutter.  I cut a piece of paper 4”X5 1/4”, then on my cutter, I put the edge at 1”, and cut from 1” to 3”, turned, cut at 1” and 4 1/4” and so on til I had the hole center cut out.  Then I just lined it up on my White card and sponge the inside with the new Crumb Cake pad. The ribbon is our new thin taffeta in Marina Mist!

IMG_1616

This card uses a set called Artistic Etchings.  I love collage but often struggle with not being precise.  But I love this set and I’m going to collage if it kills me!

The texture is done with one of our Sizzix embossing plates, then I ran the Crumb Cake Ink pad over the raised part.  CS is Sahara Sand, Basic Black, Crumb Cake (Kraft Brown) and then the Eiffel Tower is stamped in Early Espresso—what a beautiful brown!  Ribbon is Early Espresso Taffeta.  The Top Note die is also embossed with the new Embossing Folder, Vintage Wallpaper.

New Catalog Sneak Peak!

I’m sad that my new stamps haven’t gotten here yet—mine are on back order!  So I found this on my friend Sharon’s blog and thought, she won’t mind if I share her beautiful designs.

When I look at the stamp set “Friends Never Fade”… I think wow, what insight, how true!  This stamp from the set.. it’s kind of like a pineapple, dutch welcome sign, and traditional stencil all rolled into one!

1P6190006udisk88[2]

This NEW ribbon is featured in the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog.. this time in Early Espresso and Marina Mist.

The old olive ribbon from the Theatre ribbon essentials pack was added behind the new Marina Mist 1/8” ribbon… Vintage wallpaper embossed marina mist card stock really stands out here.. I love how deeply embossed the image is.  The Marina Mist cardstock is paired with bashful blue cardstock, and she’s added a punchy flower with lots of layers after stamping regular computer (or office copy paper) with the a to z stamp set… and of course a flat backed pearl from the pretties kit.  What do you think?

P6150011[2]

Want to see another sample using just ONE of the stamps from the Friends Never Fade Stamp and More of that yummy vintage wallpaper embossing folder!! AND… this time she paired Marina Mist with Early Espresso and Whisper White Card Stock, but turned the embosssed image upside down.. fun, isn’t it?.  Still the same pineapple image (or is that an artichoke?) from the Friends Never Fade stamp set… and more narrow 1/8” ribbon…  All available in the New Idea Book & Catalog.. Click the Contact Me tab at the side of my blog to find out how to get your new idea book!

This is one of the projects we’re doing this month for club.

Uses the brayer, grommets—that are going out, the photo corner punch and the set called Wanted that is also going out.

Also, I wanted to share some of the creativity from my group from our last Stamp Fest in Chambersburg.
