Sheltering Tree for Fall

I love Fall: the cooler weather, the gorgeous leaves, the fluttering leaves.  It's as though all God's nature takes a deep breath and relaxes. So, when I saw this card idea, I was in love.  The way the tree peeks out of the leaf cut out is just sweet!  This is our card for class this month.

And I also found this idea...I stamped the leaves in Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie.
Isn't that fun?

Paisleys and Emboss Resist

When some gals from our Joyful Heart Group got together to swap ideas,
Sondra mentioned this idea: emboss resist with Copper.

Copper embossing powder and copper foil is so beautiful and I was thrilled when it came back.
I decided to make this card right away and use it for class.
The coloring technique is called burnishing.  Let me explain:
Positioning: I placed the paisley stamps where I wanted them on the card, then put my largest block down on top of them to secure their location.
Embossing: Rub Embossing Buddy over your piece of Whisper White Cardstock.
Ink all stamps on the block with Versamark ink.  This stamp set is photopolymer so be sure to use the Piercing Mat for better images when you stamp. After stamping, dust with Copper Embossing Powder, turn paper over  (holding it above a piece of clean scrap paper) and tap excess off with a firm flick. Heat with heat tool on high til copper is shiny.  (hint: hold the tool about 1 inch from your cardstock and heat in one area until you see change, then begin to move slowly then as quickly as you see the change, you can continue to cover your whole paper, then remove heat immediately).  Be sure to look over your piece and make sure there are no areas that still appear "grainy".  If you find any, reheat those areas before touching because the powder will fall off if not heated properly
Begin burnishing with Flirty Flamingo ink (tap a piece of the sponge on ink pad, then tap on scrap paper, then begin on your design to rub gently in a circular motion, then keep rubbing harder til you get a good, bright covering.  Just do this color in spots, then repeat the same thing in open spots using Rich Razzleberry.  Completely fill in the white using these 2 colors, blending the colors together.

Freehand and Stamps

I found this idea on Pinterest and I just love this bird cage...
So....the outline is free-hand.

It's not that hard, really.
Mark your corners to keep you on track. I used our Project life Pens...love them.
Then just let your hand go.
You will seriously feel a little crazy...I think this is a personality test :)
It is very fun.  Everyone at class panicked but then they had fun!
I added some rhinestones that I colored black with a sharpie marker.

So, if this random scribble makes you nervous, check back here for next month's project doing a similar Freehand that is more controlled.
Here are the other stamps and projects that I used on this card..

Metallic Thread---love it or leave it?

So, we've been playing with the metallic thread since the last Holiday catalog, I think.

I love the look of it, subtle and under-stated, but it's not always easy to work with.
I've come up with a few ways that help me use it and love it...hope it will help you too!
So this first one, I just came up with this month because I really miss scallops.  I miss our scallop scissors, punches, dies, etc.  We have no scallop borders...bahhh!
Enter scallop thread!   First I put 'Tear and Tape Adhesive down the back edge of this Mint Macaron piece.  Then I just looped the thread around, making little circles and tacking the thread onto the adhesive every time it crossed it. Turn it over and just the scallops show on the front.
Also, in casing a swap from the cruise, I added a swirl of copper thread but to make it easy, I just twirled around my fingers then tacked it to the washi tape I planned to use...doing customer appreciation notes, so I just lined up lots of washi tape with thread attached. Easy Peasy!

So, get crackin' and try out these 2 new ways to enjoy your metallic thread

Affectionately Yours Washi Tape (this is where the copper washi tape is from) #141635  $8

Tear and Tape Adhesive  #138995  $7

 Black Metallic Thread  #141695
Copper Metallic Thread #141696
Gold Metallic  #138401
Silver Metallic  #138402
 $3 each  50 yards

So....Metallic thread....are you lovin' it or leavin' it?  Please give me your vote in the comment section below.
Need supplies?  I can help

Celebrate with me during Sale A Bration

I think it's special that I joined Stampin' Up! during the season that has now become Sale a Bration.

I'm celebrating 20 years with Stampin' Up! and I want to celebrate with you.
I thought I'd do that a couple of ways:

I'm doing my first ever online $1000 book party. Here's how it works....
I need 10 people to commit to place a $100 minimum order using a special hostess code that I will give you. You will then get one of the listed prizes. If you claim 2 spots ($200 order or a 12 month paper pumpkin subscription) then you will get 2 prizes and so on.  Plus, you will get to pick 2 Sale a Bration items.

Every Participant will get a prize.....one of the following:
(8) will get to choose $18 FREE
(2) will get $10 free and get to choose a 1/2 price item

Prizes will be drawn randomly.  Contact me right away to grab your spot!  First come, first served.  I will email you the hostess code for you to use.  After you place your order, I will ask you to email me your free/half price items.

Benefit: You get hostess benefits on only a $100 order rather than a $150 order and you don't have to have a party to do so!

Welcome to March....thank you for helping me celebrate this very special Anniversary.

Be sure to email me now to grab your spot.

My FAVS
Some of the things I love as I have done this for 20 years...
.You get to work alongside your family (my little ones, helped me(ie played with my stamps), as      they got older, they were so much help) and I got to be home with my kids except for a few classes a  month and was able to work those around my husband's schedule.  Now, I do many in my home.
-You make so many friends, it's amazing.  As a young mother, I needed some adult conversation and stimulation to keep me grounded.  As a grandmother, I need conversation and stimulation to keep me from getting alzheimers  smile.
-My husband and I and even some of the children have gotten to enjoy fabulous FREE vacations that we would never have been able to take on our income.
-I was able to quit my job as a Registered Nurse working in Critical Care and stay home with my family....please note that it was a pay cut for me but working this business helped to keep food on our table and gave me what I really wanted, Time with my children",  Granted, we worked a lot, but we worked together.
-I cannot lie, it was fun and rewarding to be recognized many times for accomplishments in sales, recruiting, etc.  I think we all enjoy a little bit of recognition for the things we do and that is why in my team, I try to recognize those who work hard, share the love, are creative.  Each person has a different gift and all are blessed when we work together and share the load.
Join NOW
If you have some doubts or fears, lets talk: please contact me right now...and leave me the best way to contact you.
If you don't, then go right here, click Join Now and get signed up.
I will try to make sure you are connected with the group and that you know what you need to should you decide to 'stay' a demonstrator.

#ImBringingBirthdaysBack --join me

‪#‎imbringingbirthdaysback‬ This is a new slogan that Shannon West at Stampin' Up!s main office started. She has a vision to become more personal and send more birthday cards.
