Dahlia Fold Using Ornament Punch

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sondra Jumper gave this beautiful book to me as a gift at our Joyful Heart Luncheon.  Each petal of this flower is created by punching with the ornament punch, then folding in the sides of the ornament til the edges touched in the center.  Eight of these petals create this whole flower.  The top edges of the ornaments are under the button in the center!

You’ll have to try this with your punch.   

Clear Ornament Technique

This is the coolest thing I’ve ever heard of!

I’m hoping that you’l be as surprised as me at how easy this is.

You’ll need:

Clear glass ornament

Iridescent Ice Embossing powder

Heat tool

Snowflake rub-ons

Directions: Breathe into the ornament heavily so that your breath creates moisture on the sides.

Quickly dump in irid. ice powder, toss around to cover all sides and then dump back into your embossing pal tray.  Right away, heat the outside of the glass ornament to emboss the powder inside! 

Being sure surface is clean, carefully rub-on the snowflakes.

Rag Purse

This adorable purse was one of the gifts exchanged at our Joyful Heart Stampers Christmas Gathering.

It was made by one of my downline, Carol Barr and the recipient was very thrilled! 

It was made with our Sizzix Die-the scalloped square! and the flower is the Flower Fold Die.

My girls are ready to go to town and get fabric to make a few gifts of their own.

Cold and Cuddly Ideas

 

Love this set with these bright colors.  It certainly brightens up the drabness of winter (when there is no beautiful snow on the trees and ground).

I used Bermuda Bay with Old Olive, Real Red, and some Only Orange DSP.

Gift Card Holder—project for this month’s class:

used Certainly Celery, Real Red, Bermuda Bay, and Only Orange.

 

 

Cardstock Measurement: 4 1/4” X 7 1/2”

Score at 2 1/2”, 5 1/2"

On the 2 1/2” side, trace the edge of a CD to get the rounded tab-trim evenly.

Fold up the 2” side and attach very close to the edge with brads.  This creates a pocket for the gift card.  Embellish as desired and attach with a velcro dot.

Heat Tool, Wax Paper, Tissue Paper

1. Stamp your images onto tissue paper shinny side up using Basic Black Classic Stampin’ Pad.

2. Color in stamped images using Stampin’ Write Markers.

3. Cut image out as close to the edges as you can.

4. Cut a piece of wax paper so that it covers your image and goes all the way around it the candle with enough room to grip it tight using the two ends.

5. Take your stamped image and place it on the candle where you want it. (You can use our Anywhere glue stick to hold it in place if you would like.) Then place wax paper on top of image. Make sure to hold the wax paper against the candle tight by gripping excess in the back.

 

6. Wave your preheated embossing tool quickly over the area where the image is. Be sure to keep the wax paper tight. (Keeping it smooth and tight is very important.)
You will begin to see a color change under the wax paper in a few seconds. When the candle heats up the wax paper will melt and press the image into the softened wax of the candle.

7. Slowly peel back wax paper from the candle. If tissue paper edge has not disappeared reheat area lightly again using step #6.

8. Tie 22” of Old Olive 1 1/4” Striped Grosgrain Ribbon around base of candle and your finished!

You can do more than one image on the candle; just remember to use a different area of the wax paper each time so your candle keeps its shine. Remember each brand of candle is different so you will have to adjust the time you use your heat tool.

Top Note Christmas Box

 

This cute little box can be used to hold candy, jewelry and other small gifts.

Directions to create box:

1. Cut Textured CS to 7 ½ X 6 ½ inches
2. On the 7 ½ inch side, score at 2” and 5 ½”
3. On the 6 ½ inch side, score at 2” and 4 ½”
4. Cut into scored line, on score line in all 4 corners
5. Adhere the 4 pieces of designer series paper on all 4 sides of box 
6. Place sticky strip on all 4 flaps of box. Fold in flaps and fold up sides of box to create bottom of box.

Directions for lid:

1. Run Cardstock through Big Shot using the Top Note Die
2. Score all sides ½” in from tips to create perpendicular lines 
3. Cut all 4 corners in to score line like you did for the box bottom—gently fold on scored lines
4. Place the top note in Petals A Plenty embossing folder and run through big shot.
5. Using the width of the ribbon as a guide, cut a slit with craft blade at each end of box top (on fold). Fold in all corners and secure with sticky strip.
6. Thread a generous length of ribbon through slits leaving loop at bottom for under box but don’t tie yet.
7. Get ready for this great technique. Take your empty spray bottle (stampin’ mist size) and fill ½ full with rubbing alchohol. Add ¾ tsp. of shimmer paint. I used frost Whtie but Champagne Mist gives a marvelous glitzy look too! Shake well and spritz on lid of box. Set aside to dry before tying the ribbon. Tip: If you use 99% alcohol, it won’t last for an extended period of time.
8. Stamp scalloped image in Real Red and old olive ink on whisper white cardstock.
9. Punch stamped images with circle and scallop punch and layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adhere button and attach library clip.
10. After lid has dried tie ribbon into a bow and clip embellishments to the ribbon.

2 Styles of Gift Card Holders

I don’t know about you but with teens, we seem to give more gift cards than ever!  What better way than in a cute Holder (you know what they say: the package gives the first impression of the gift inside)
